Vehicle FAQs
My vehicle is under warrantee, does all maintenance need to be performed at a dealership?
Most warranties are affected by preventative maintenance, a great way for keeping your vehicle running smoothly and catching issues while they are still small. Many often assume that general maintenance like oil changes must be performed at a dealership to maintain warranty, however; this is not the case. Anyone licensed can perform the required services, as long as the parts used are original factory and all maintenance is performed on time per the manufacturers recommended schedule.
My check engine light just came on, but my vehicle is running well?
Your Check Engine or Service Engine light is your vehicle’s way of letting you know that something is not right. However; the range of issue is large from something that wont affect the drive-ability of your vehicle (like a small evap leak) to something critical to your safety (like an engine misfiring). A quick pull of your computer codes at our shop can give an idea as to the issue.
Note that when a check engine light is flashing, this indicates that the issues are serious and critical - you’ll want to get into an appointment right away.
I hit a curb, do I need my alignment checked?
Yes, today’s cars are lighter with fewer and smaller suspension components and therefore less forgiving. If damage goes unnoticed, new tires may be needed. Look closely at the tread for uneven wear patterns or bald spots. Have a mechanic perform an alignment check if you are unsure.
When should I put on my winter tires?
You should think about having your winter tires put on your vehicle when temperatures average around 7 degrees. In Oxford County, this means mid to late October is a good time to get an appointment booked.
Many insurance companies require that you have your winter tires on by a certain date, so checking if you are bound by that is a great place to start. Some companies are as early as October 1st.
Our shop (as many are in Woodstock) is often fully booked come Winter Tire Season. Thinking ahead and getting your winter tire appointment early can ensure you are riding safely come those early snowy days.
